requires storage migration resulting in failure of VM migration. This also improves
the hostsformigration api. Firstly we were trying to list all hosts and then
finding suitable storage pools for all volumes and then we were checking whether
vm migration requires storage migration to that host. Now the process is updated.
We are checking for only those volumes which are not in zone wide primary store.
We are verifying by comparing volumes->poolid->clusterid to host clusterid. If it
uses local or clusterids are different then verifying whether host has suitable
storage pools for the volume of the vm to be migrated too.
Changes:
- Only way to choose a certain storage pool is by using disk_offering_tags
- Added a parameter to take in a disk offering Id.
- Admin will have to create a custom sized disk offering and tag it as necessary for the user
- This custom offering Id should be passed during uploadVolume to associate the volume with this disk offering
2. Add ctxDetails in the ParamGenericValidationWorker to avoid warning for api validation
3. Add some missing events.
4. Correcting mapping for ResourceObjectType.NetworkACL and ResourceObjectType.NetworkACLItem

There was a commit 4b89a45e57 on master which was
added by "root@devcloud.apache.org" with no committer signature so I cannot tell
whom to reach. In the code it looks like they forgot to initialize the static
config dao variable which is causing NPE on master. The fix simply initializes
the s_configDao with injected configDao object.

CLOUDSTACK-4762 : Enabling VGPU support for XenServer.
This feature is to enable the GPU-passthrough and vGPU functionality,
with the help of this feature, admins/users will be able to leverage
the GPU graphics unit power by deploying a virtul machine with GPU or
vGPU support or by changing the service offering of an existing VM
at any later point of time. There GPU/vGPU enabled VMs are able to run
graphical applications.
For now, this feature is only supported with XenServer hypervisor but
can be extended to add the support of other hypervisors.
Publish first class objects involved in an operation (for now vm uuid) on the event bus . Example - during attach/detachIso along with iso id, vm id should be available as well.

If a VM instance is deployed with startVm=false, then calling restoreVm on the instance fails with NPE
because CS tries to expunge a volume that has not been created in primary store.
When Action Events are generated and placed on the Event Bus, an
"account" parameter is included with the event. When these events are
generated for resources within projects, this "account" parameter is not
useful as it's the UUID of the project account, instead of the project.
To solve this, I updated ActionEventsUtil class to include a "project"
parameter in the generated events when the resource is being
changed/add/deleted in a project.

Fixed it too.
The things is, VR would take time to execute the commands, say it would need
time t1(which is greater than 0).
And the interval between parallel deployment is t2(which can be almost 0). In
any case, VR need to handle commands in sequence internally, so if t1 > t2, then
the new task in the VR would wait longer and longer to execute, then some
commands result in timeout ultimately. No matter how long the timeout is, if
there are enough big number of queued task for VR, the last ones can timeout.
Currently VR has a robust mechanism to sequence the jobs internal and I
confirmed in this case, it works well. But there is no way to fix this issue if
VR is already 100% load at all time.
Probably we can improve the speed of VR internal executing, but seems the
ultimate answer is: set execute.in.sequence.network.element.commands to true. VR
doesn’t know how long it would take for mgmt. server to timeout, only mgmt.
server knows that.
By setting sequence execution in VR to "true", mgmt server would handle the
commands in a queue, make sure that VR won't be overload and report unexpected
failure just because it's overload.

This patch adds support for trust chains in the netscaler.
I initially planned on using the 10.1 API's "bundle" feature but during
my testing I found that was not working. So I am doing the chain linking
myself. Also NS can have only one entity of a certificate ie lets say
two different users try to add the same certificate on the netscaler
only one of them will go through. The other one says resouce already
exists even though they have different files.
This can be a problem in trust chains where the chain can be shared
between multiple accounts/certificates. So, I am using the figerprint as
an identifier of a certificate and making sure that we delete it only
when no one references it.
Resource limit shouldnt be counted for resources with display flag = 0. Adding functions to resourcelimitmanager and doing it for the volumes at the moment.

Fix is use the storage overprovisioning factor (global configuration parameter "storage.overprovisioning.factor") to calculate total provisioning capacity for storage space allocation over VMFS based storage pools as well.
There are two level of thin provisioning provided in VMware, storage level and file-level (VMDK) thin provisioning. in CloudStack, all volumes are provisioned with thin VMDK format, so at hypervisor level, we ALWAYS do thin provisioning. If storage vendor has the ability to provide storage level thin provisioning in addition to VMDK thin provisioning, it is also allowed since it is transparent to Cloudstack.

Normally we take traffic label name, find the matching bridge, then resolve that to a

If the VM uses local disk then cluster and zone storage allocators should not handle it and return null or empty list.

This patch would reset the priority in such condition:
1. All redundant routers are stopped, e.g. due to network GC
2. User start one VM in the network
3. The routers would be brought up with reseted priority(100 & 99).
This would resolve the issue of network GC result in lower limit of redundant router priority reached.
Even though the volume may get migrated from shared to local storage, it is not possible to update the disk offering.
The fix is to disallow migration from shared to local store.

b. if root volume scope is zone, allow if vm and data volume in same cluster (fixed as part of this commit)
3. if data volume scope is host allow if vm and data volume in same host (fixed as part of this commit)

These changes are a joint effort between Edison and I to refactor some
of the code around snapshotting VM volumes and creating
templates/volumes from VM volume snapshots. In general, we were working
towards allowing PrimaryDataStoreDrivers to create snapshots on primary
storage and not requiring the snapshots to be transferred to secondary
storage.
High level changes:
-Added uuid to NfsTO, SwiftTO & S3TO to cut down on the requirement of
PrimaryDataStoreTO and ImageStoreTO which don't really serve much of a
purpose
-Initial work towards enable reverting VM volume from snapshots
-Added hypervisor commands for introducing and forgetting new hypervisor

All of the code changes for the Spring Modularization will work in
a modularized context or a non-modularized context. This commit
is the final commit to turn modularization on. Revert this commit
to disable the modularization and go back to monolithic Spring
configuration.
ACS is now comprised of a hierarchy of spring application contexts.
Each plugin can contribute configuration files to add to an existing
module or create it's own module.
Additionally, for the mgmt server, ACS custom AOP is no longer used
and instead we use Spring AOP to manage interceptors.
The managed context framework provides a simple way to add logic
to ACS at the various entry points of the system. As threads are
launched and ran listeners can be registered for onEntry or onLeave
of the managed context. This framework will be used specifically
to handle DB transaction checking and setting up the CallContext.
This framework is need to transition away from ACS custom AOP to
Spring AOP.
Various classes are using member injection to inject extensible objects.
Really those object should come from an AdapterList that is injected in.
This patch switches the code to use setter injection that will later allow
spring to inject an AdapterList or something similar to allow
extensibility.
DefaultUserAuthenticator maskes the _name varible in ComponentLifecycleBase
making the setName() method not work as expected. This patch cleans up the
code such that getName() will be getClass().getSimpleName() unless
overridden in the Spring configuration.
Also fixed existing bugs for the API:
* corrected action event to be VOLUME.UPDATE (was VOLUME.ATTACH)
* all parameters to update, should be optional - fixed that. If nothing is specified, the db object will remain with its original fields

During host connect multiple listeners gets invoked, one of them is the download listener.
As part of processConnect() method, it checks if templates needs to be downloaded to secondary
store for a particular HV type. As part of that check it computes list of HVs present in the
zone. The earlier logic was to query all hosts (excluding current one) and iterate over them to
make the list. This is not optimal and is bound to have some latency as the number of hosts
increases.
Optimized the logic by querying the list of HVs from the db. directly instead of iterating over
all hosts in the zone.

The locking code in implement/shutdown network code was not efficient. Even in order to check the current state of the network lock was getting acquired which is not required. This resulted in delays in deploy VM as can be seen from attached logs where the code waited on the lock just to check if network is implemented.
As part of the fix moved out code that is checking if the network is already implemented or shutdowned outside the lock.
For some scenarios like prepare nic, all network service providers are checked which is not efficient and also introduces unnecessary dependencies.
The check to use only the required providers is already there for implement, shutdown operation on network. Put the same check for all missing cases.
If you shut down the agent while VMs are running, the management
server assumes that the VMs are continuing to run. You can then
delete the host while it is in 'disconnected' state, and those VMs
will be unusable, forever in running state. They can't change state
because the host no longer exists. This patch checks for any VMs
that may have been tied to the removed host and resets their state
so that cloudstack can continue to manage them.

If new 4.2 system template is registered before upgrade then marking the old templates as removed during upgrade.
The time increased due to the newly added dedicated resources feature. During regular VM deployment, all dedicated resources are put in avoid list so that they are not considered for deployment.
Now the way to compute the list of dedicated resources is not optimal and performance deteriorates in an environment having lot of pods, clusters and hosts as the logic is to query db. for each suc resource.
The fix is to optimize the logic not to loop through all resources but get the list of each resource type in a single query.

Description:
a) Fixing NPE when wrong path is provided for primary datastore.
b) No error dialog shows up in GUI when wrong path is provided,
after NPE fix - propagating exception upward.
c) If the KVM agent is down, an invalid datastore gets logged in
storage_pool table and doesn't get removed, so it shows up
in the GUI in the list of datastores - fixing this as well.
The problem was because in cloudstack when a vm is stopped it gets destroyed on the host. For a
windows vm the timeoffset (which can be set by changing the timezone from within the vm) is stored
in the platform:timeoffset attribute of vm record. The information is lost when the vm is destroted.
Made change to read and persist the platform:timeoffset vm attribute when an instance is stopped.
The value is persisted in the user_vm_details table. When the vm is started again the attribute is
set for the vm instance that gets created.

published on to event bus

commons-lang is already a transitive dependency of the utils project, which allows removing some duplicated functionality.
This patch replaces StringUtils.join(String, Object...) with it's commons-lang counterpart.
It also replaces calls to String join(Iterable<? extends Object>, String) in cases where an array is already exist and it is only wrapped into a List.

Both configs are configurable at the account level too.
Otherwise when MASTER failed, the user VM would get password reset again after
reboot.
But this fix still have issues if MASTER is failure before VM boot up, but in
that case, password of user VM won't change and user would request password
change again, then it would be fine.

This is done by checking if the last vlan in the new range is same as the start vlan of any existing range.
Since for a single vlan the start and the end vlan are the same the check goes to an infinite loop resulting in a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space error.
Remove the check for a single vlan because if an existing range starts with the single vlan then it implies that the range already exists
The additional response type is basically the same as
StoragePoolResponse. Only additional state reported is whether the
storage pool is suitable for migration. Since this is fetched from
hypervisor capabilities there is no need for a new response type.
Tested with the simulator and I can see the response format correctly.

Added hypervisor type to CreateStoragePoolCmd & Storage pool responses.
DatastoreLifeCycle would consider hypervisor type while attaching datastore to zone.
ZoneWideStoragePoolAllocator would filter zone wide primary storage pools by hypervisor type along with tags in disk profile.
hypervisor type is mandatory parameter if scope is specified as ZONE while creating primary storage pool.
As of now KVM, VMware are allowed to use ZoneWideStoragePoolAllocator.

shouldn't be exposed in basic zone
reverting the original fix for this bug. When you add network service
provider instance into a physical network in a basic zone, its not
necessary that a network has been provisioned into zone. So its no
straight-forward to know if the basic zone network has EIP/ELB services enabled.
Issues:
In Implicit planner resource usage is fixed to "Dedicated". It should be Dedicated/Shared depending upon the Implict Planner strict/preferred modes and hosts availability.

Created for files server/src/com/cloud/deploy/DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl.java, server/test/com/cloud/vm/DeploymentPlanningManagerImplTest.java, server/test/org/apache/cloudstack/affinity/AffinityApiUnitTest.java
This feature allows a user to deploy VMs only in the resources dedicated to his account or domain.
1. Resources(Zones, Pods, Clusters or hosts) can be dedicated to an account or domain.
Implemented 12 new APIs to dedicate/list/release resources:
- dedicateZone, listDedicatedZones, releaseDedicatedZone for a Zone.
- dedicatePod, listDedicatedPods, releaseDedicatedPod for a Pod.
- dedicateCluster, listDedicatedClusters, releaseDedicatedCluster for a Cluster
- dedicateHost, listDedicatedHosts, releaseDedicatedHost for a Host.
2. Once a resource(eg. pod) is dedicated to an account, other resources(eg. clusters/hosts) inside that cannot be further dedicated.
3. Once a resource is dedicated to a domain, other resources inside that can be further dedicated to its sub-domain or account.
4. If any resource (eg.cluster) is dedicated to a account/domain, then resources(eg. Pod) above that cannot be dedicated to different accounts/domain (not belonging to the same domain)
5. To use Explicit dedication, user needs to create an Affinity Group of type 'ExplicitDedication'
6. A VM can be deployed with the above affinity group parameter as an input.
7. A new ExplicitDedicationProcessor has been added which will process the affinity group of type 'Explicit Dedication' for a deployment of a VM that demands dedicated resources.
This processor implements the AffinityGroupProcessor adapter. This processor will update the avoid list.
8. A VM requesting dedication will be deployed on dedicatd resources if available with the user account.
9. A VM requesting dedication can also be deployed on the dedicated resources available with the parent domains iff no dedicated resources are available with the current user's account or
domain.
10. A VM (without dedication) can be deployed on shared host but not on dedicated hosts.
11. To modify the dedication, the resource has to be released first.
12. Existing Private zone functionality has been redirected to Explicit dedication of zones.
13. Updated the db upgrade schema script. A new table "dedicated_resources" has been added.
14. Added the right permissions in commands.properties
15. Unit tests: For the new APIs and Service, added unit tests under : plugins/dedicated-resources/test/org/apache/cloudstack/dedicated/DedicatedApiUnitTest.java
16. Marvin Test: To dedicate host, create affinity group, deploy-vm, check if vm is deployed on the dedicated host.
associated with account
Unlike public ip which gets dis-associated (released) with the account
on network/VPC delete, portable IP should continue to be associated with
the account even when the network/VPC with which it is currently
associated in deleted. This fix ensures portable IP are associated to
account even after network/vpc is deleted.

The location of the virtual machine is provided by DeployDestination, which will
be passed in NetworkGuru#reserve and NetworkElement#prepare.
During the virtual machine migration, it actually changes DeployDestination and
it looks like that it will tell that event to network components as it has
NetworkManager#prepareNicForMigration. The problem is that althogh the interface
has that method, NetworkManagerImpl does not tell the DeployDestination changes
to network components.
So IMHO, we need to add calls of NetworkGuru#reserve and NetworkElement#prepare
in NetworkManagerImpl#prepareNicForMigration . And then, we also need to add
calls NetworkGuru#release and NetworkElement#release after the migration,
otherwise the network resources that plugin reserved will be kept even when the
vm leaves off.

1. Made a fix to make sure a null object is added to the exception.
2. Also fixed the marvin test cases for the feature. Account cleanup will remove the vms deployed for the account. There is no need to explicitly delete the vms for the account.
3. Fixed the assertion checks for the vm created for an account. If there are multiple vms for an account, the test script needs to compare the ids with the correct instance.

CLOUDSTACK-2349: Anti-Affinity - As admin user , using updateVMAffinityGroup() , we are allowed to update the affinity group of a Vm (that belongs to a regular user) to be set to admin's affinity group.
Changes:
- Even for root-admin make sure that the affinity group and the VM belong to same account
Changes:
- There is no good mechanism currently to figure out if the deployment failed due to affinity groups only
- We can just hint the user that the deployment might have failed due to the affinity groups and ask to review the input
1. A new implicit planner which extends the functionality provided by FirstFitPlanner.
2. Implicit planner can be used in either strict or preferred mode. In strict mode it tries to deploy a vm of a given account on a host on which vms of the account are already running. If no such host is found it'll search for an empty host to service the request. Otherwise the deploy vm request fails.
3. In preferred mode, if a host which is running vms of the account or an empty host isn't found, the planner then tries to deploy on any other host provided it isn't running implicitly dedicated strict vms of any other account.
4. Updated the createServiceOffering api to configure the details for the planner that the service offering is using.
5. Made db changes to store the service offering details for the planner.
6. Unit tests for testing the implicit planner functionality.
7. Marvin test for validating the functionality.
- Changes merged from planner_reserve branch
- Exposing deploymentplanner as an optional parameter while creating a service offering
- changes to DeploymentPlanningManagerImpl to make sure host reserve-release happens between conflicting planner usages.
